       In accordance with directorate letter no.A-34012/7/2012-DE dated 07.06.2012 the limited departmental competitive examination for promotion to the cadre of Inspector of Posts for the year 2012 will be held on 08th and 09th September 2012.

1.    The following categories of officials are eligible to appear for the above
examination as per revised recruitment rules.

Not less than 5 years regular service in the cadre of
a.    Postal assistant,
b.    Lower selection grade officials,
c.    Stenographers in Posts Offices
d.    Savings Bank Control Organization.

2.    Age Condition:
Not exceeding 40 years for General category candidates and relaxation by 5 years for Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes officials.

3.    Crucial date for Age & Service condition:
As per the existing Recruitment Rules to the cadre of IP and Rule 279/1 of P&T Manual, Volume IV, the cut off date for assessing the eligibility to appear in IP Examinations is 30th June of year in which the Inspector of Posts Examination is to be conducted. Therefore, the crucial date for this Examination is to be fixed as on 30th June, 2012.

4.    Syllabus & Pattern of IP Examiantion:
The revised pattern and syllabus for the said Inspector Posts Examination was already circulated by SPB-I Section vide letter No.7-14/2011-SPB-II dated 09th March, 2011 and the same is indicated below for ready reference:

(ii) Indian Evidence Act: Short title, extent & commencement of the relevancy of the facts: Evidence may be given of facts in issue and relevant facts, relevancy of facts forming part of same transaction, facts which are the occasion, cause or effect of facts in issue; motive, preparation and previous or subsequent conduct.

5.    No. of chances:
(1)          As per the Recruitment Rules, a candidate belonging to General Category is allowed a maximum number of 4 chances to appear in the LDCE provided that candidate who secured more than 70% aggregate marks in 4th chance may be allowed one more chance as a special case;

(2)          Candidates belonging to SC/ST may be allowed a maximum number of 6 chances to appear in the LDCE;

(3)          Provided further that the SC/ST candidate if he is successful in the IP Examination in his 5th or 6th chance be entitled to be appointed only to a post reserved for Scheduled Castes or Scheduled Tribes as the case may be;

(4)          Candidates who are serving or having served in APS may be given such concession in regard to age limit, maximum number of chances to appear in the LDCE for appointment in those posts on obtaining minimum qualifying marks as may be decided by Central Government from time to time.

6.    Venues for conducting the Examination:
The examination will be conducted at all Circle Headquarters only. The candidates have to appear from the respective centres of their Circle only and under no circumstances, they cannot be permitted to appear from other circle centres. However, the candidates working on deputation to APS will take the examination form the nearest Civil Centre to their places of posting/serving. The Applications received at the Outsourced Agency directly without being routed through the Nodal Officer will not be entertained.

7.            The eligible & willing officials may send their willingness in writing to Divisional Office on or before 21.06.2012. Application form kit will be sent to them on receipt from RO.

8.            This should be brought to the notice of all officials including those who are on deputation, training, leave, etc without omissions.
